As the millennium approached there was discussion within the village about how it should be marked. Eventually it was decided that a group photograph of all village residents should be taken and a copy given to every household. The photograph was taken by Wye Valley Studios of Caldicot and given to every household with a slip which said:
‘This photograph is presented by Redwick Community Council with its compliments and best wishes for a happy New Year.’
It was also accompanied by a numbered plan to help identify people.
It was also decided that a bench should be purchased to be placed outside the Village hall. This was one of a limited edition of 2000 benches made to commemorate the millennium; Redwick’s bench was number 1073.
