Redwick History Group was established in March 2013. We are a group of people who meet on a regular basis, usually monthly, to share what we know about Redwick and its residents and to find out more about what has happened in the village in the past.

Our meetings are open to all, new members are always welcome. Many of our members either do live in the village, have lived in the village or have family connections to village residents both past and present; others just want to find out more about the village.

Our aim is to research, record, share and celebrate Redwick’s history. We are particularly interested in the development of the village and in its residents; we want to make our findings accessible to local people and to other interested parties and ensure that they are recorded for posterity. We are extremely grateful for the generosity of people in sharing their memories, their photographs and their artefacts all of which have contributed to building up a fuller picture of life in the village.

We are very aware that some people who had an extensive knowledge of people who lived in the village, and events that had happened in the village are no longer with us. We are particularly grateful for the knowledge that has been passed on to other people from Herbert James, Hubert Jones, Stan Monk and many others.

The launch of the website is a milestone in our journey but is by no means the end. We will continue to add to it as more material becomes available.

In October 2013 we applied to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a grant. We were delighted to be granted £10.000 which has enabled us to pursue our aims. We are extremely grateful for the support and encouragement of the HLF.
